About Us

Our company was founded in 1997 (originally as FRONTIER 21 Education Solutions) to help educators, parents and communities to find innovative ways to educate students who have traditionally struggled to achieve in standardized school systems. Over the past 26 years, we have provided a wide variety of school planning and support services to organizations and groups around the country, including:

Meet Our Team

Staffed by experienced educators, school developers, and education researchers, School Frontiers has decades of collective wisdom and technical expertise to bring to large and small scale educational projects. 

Alex Schuh, Ph.D. – Director

Alex is the founder and Director of School Frontiers. He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied policy research and evaluation, collaborative learning, and the use of computer media for learning. He received his Baccalaureate from Yale University in Cultural Anthropology. His expertise is in multiple areas of youth development, including organizational development, education policy, quantitative and qualitative research methods, and computer-based learning. He has been a teacher in both middle schools and high schools. He has evaluated a wide range of educational projects, at the local, regional and national levels. Since 1997, he has helped to design and establish more than 35 charter schools across the country, including a charter school based on the ideas of emotional intelligence and a virtual charter school for distance learning.

Mario Gutierrez, MBA – Chief Growth Officer

Mario’s responsibilities include identifying growth opportunities in research, evaluation, consulting and professional development, supervising junior level staff members, and strategic planning for the growth of the organization. Mario is a former elementary and middle school teacher and holds an MBA from Temple University.

Sydney Rose – Lead Evaluation Associate

Sydney’s responsibilities include overseeing evaluation research projects, managing 21st Century Community Learning Center evaluation studies, working with schools and foundations to design accountability plans, and communicating with partners about their needs how to grow and measure their impact on students. Sydney holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Temple University. 

Zoë Groff – Programs & Policy Specialist

Zoë’s responsibilities include assisting with federal programs, program development and support, and conducting research for ongoing projects. Zoë has experience teaching multiple grade levels. She holds a Master’s in Educational Leadership and Policy from Boston College and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Baylor University.

Kelly Flynn – Data Analyst

Kelly’s responsibilities include assessment data analysis and evaluation and research project assistance. Kelly holds a BA in Economics from Saint Joseph’s University and has experience as a teaching assistant from her participation in a post-graduate year of service program at a middle school in Baltimore. 

 

Daphne Schneewind – Education Program Evaluator

Daphne’s responsibilities include evaluation research, data management, and research project assistance. Daphne earned her BA in German Studies and International Relations from Mount Holyoke College. She has experience teaching in both America and Germany. She received a Fulbright Scholarship to teach abroad in Germany for two years.

Stephanie Seubert – Education Data Analyst

Stephanie’s responsibilities include school data analysis, data visualization, and research project assistance. Stephanie earned her BA in Psychology and Sociology from Manhattan College. She has experience working in education as a tutor in New York and New Jersey. 

Suzette James – Marketing and Sales Manager

Suzette’s responsibilities include sales and marketing for School Frontiers. She is a Philadelphia native and graduate of Masterman School. She has extensive experience working with clients and forming partnerships to meet a wide range of customer needs.
